Structural Double handling

Post-tension tendons from RAM Concept to Revit

A custom tool that reads RAM Concept tendon data and places the layout, end conditions and annotations in Revit.

Client context
Structural engineering team
Built with
RAM Concept, Revit

What changed

The team can generate a complete tendon layout from the analysis model in one run. When the design changes, they regenerate the Revit layout instead of redrawing each tendon or sending the floor through another drafting cycle.

The problem

The teams I worked with designed their post-tension in analysis software and documented it in Revit. The tendon layout had to cross that gap somehow, which meant redrawing it from the analysis output or sending it out to be modelled. Redrawing a full floor is slow, and every tendon is another chance to put a high point, end condition or strand count in the wrong place. Any design change also sends the layout through the same drafting cycle again.

What I built

I built a custom tool that reads the post-tension data from RAM Concept and drafts the tendons in Revit plan views.

It places the tendon geometry, high and low points, live and dead ends, then adds the annotations needed for the drawing. The tool uses the analysis model as its source, so the layout can be generated again when the design moves.
